City Of Joseph was first produced for the dedication of the NRI Visitor’s Center in Nauvoo during the summer of 1971.
City of Joseph was produced in Nauvoo, Illinois as part of the nation’s Bicentennial celebration in the summer of 1976. This recording stems from that production. The following year it became an official pageant of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which continued for 27 years. It was presented on a 200-foot, 3-level stage that overlooked historic Nauvoo and the bend of the Mississippi River that inspired the production’s opening song.
